SCHOLARSHIPS
A GUIDE TO COMPLETING THIS BOOKLET
This booklet will provide you with information about a number of local scholarships.
1. Read through the entire booklet to identify the scholarships for which you are eligible.
2. Included at the back of this package is a scholarship application, which is to be utilized for all of the scholarships. After determining which scholarships you are eligible for, complete the scholarship application and a goal/activity resume (see example in back). Turn in a goal/activity resume for EVERY local scholarship listed on the first page of the scholarship application. For example, if you are applying for six different local scholarships you should turn in six goal/activity resumes. In the header put in the name of the scholarship each goal/activity resume is for. Include any additional information that is required for specific scholarships such as an essay or letters of recommendation. At the top of each essay please indicate what scholarship the essay is for. Please also ask individuals who write letters of recommendation for you to indicate at the top of the letter of recommendation which scholarship they have written it for. Turn in completed applications to Ms. Andre or Ms. Remington-Smith by January 26, 2024.
3. You may need one or two letters of recommendation for some of the scholarships. It is important to ask individuals two to three weeks in advance for letters of recommendation and provide them with an activity/goal resume. Letter of recommendation request forms are available in the School Counseling Office. Thank you notes should be sent to those individuals that write you letters of recommendation.
4. All scholarship applications will be sent with your GPA, letters of recommendation (if necessary), essay(s) (if necessary) and a goal/activity resume.
5. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded on to the various scholarship committees.
6. The School Counseling Office often receives county, state, and national scholarships throughout the scholarship application period. It is important to check the student announcements, the school counseling portion of the school website, Facebook page and stop by the School Counseling Office and check the Scholarship Book.
NOTE:
The exact amounts of some of the scholarships is subject to change on a year-to-year basis.
